Sandra Salazar isbenrb(~r
Services Librarian
On February 1, Sandra Salazar will assume a new position
as BCR Member Services Librarian. Sandra has been with
BCR since she received her MLS from the University of
Denver in March of 1984. In the nearly two years since
then she has served as BeR's Member Services Liaison,
monitoring the flow of information regarding terminal
installations, renewal of special projects, and implementa~
tion of OCLC in new member libraries. She has also served
as the BeR professional collection librarian and more
recently, has begun conducting training workshops on the
OCLC interlibrary loan subsystem
In her new position Sandra will become more involved
with providing training and technical assistance to BeR
member libraries. She assumes the position recently vacated
by Ruth Pralle.
Sandra's parapr~fessional experience before joining BeR
includes extensive work at the Zimmerman Library at the
University of New Mexico, and at the Santa Fe Public
Library. She brings a strong combination of experience and
motivation to her new position.
CD-ROM/Video Disc
Demonstrations
BCR is now offering demonstrations of BiblioFile, a
MARC cataloging system based on CD-ROM (compact disc
read-only memory). This sytem includes the complete LC
MARC database on disc and a CD-ROM player, which
can be connected to an IBM-PC, PC-lookalike or M300.
Documentation and search software arc also included in
the BiblioFile package.
OCLC is also researching CD-ROM applications. These
and other library applications of CD-ROM and video disc
(
- technology will be offered for demonstration at BCR as
they become available. Please call if you have any questions,

Library Liaison Position Open
The Bibliographical Center for Research (BCR), a multistate
non-profit library services network, has an entry level
opening in its main office in Denver for a Member Services
Liaison in Bibliographic Systems & Services. The person
in this position will be responsiple for varied activities,
serving in part as a liaison between OCLC and OCLC
member libraries and monitoring the flow of information
regarding terminal installations, renewal of special projects,
and implementation of DCLe in new member libraries.
There will be frequent telephone contact, with OCLC and
with staff members in OCLC libraries. Requirements for
this position include an MLS, previous library employment,
strong organizational and interpersonal communication
skills. Experience using OCLC is preferred. The salary range
is $15,500-$17,000, with possible annual merit and costof-
living increases, full health coverage, and liberal staff
development benefits. Submit resume and names of three
