The Hillman Foundation has granted PRLC the amount of $4h,500 after
approving PRLC ' s proposal to establish a Clearinghouse for Inter library
Loan . The grant will cover a two - year period, and The
Hillman Foundation has sent $24 , 000 to cover the first year of
operation . Through the Clearinghouse project, PRLC hopes to pro vide
quick access to all major research library collections in

PRLC AND OCLC
J The OCLC Board of Trustees has invited a representative from seven
of the CCLN (Council of College Library Networks) members to attend
the OCLC monthly Board meeting. PRLC's Executive Council appointed
Dr. Virginia Sternberg to represent PRLC at these meetings .
Dr . Sternberg attended the OCLC Board meeting on March 19 . A de cision
was reached by the Board to charge only 43~ for reclassification
instead of 87~ as for cataloging .
In addition to attending the meeting, Dr. Sternberg had an oppor tunity
to meet the OCLC Staff , learn how to set up the "pack
definition tables " for the profiles of new libraries going into
OCLC, and see the complete OCLC operation. The most impressive
aspect of OCLC is the dedication of the staff and their commitment
to their work . Another point is their genuine concern for the user;
every effort is made to assure that all avenues are explored to
satisfy the librarians using the OCLC system.
