Byers, McClain To New Posts
The State Library Board at its
regular meeting June 14, 1983 elected
officers for the biennial term beginning
July I, 1983. Dr. L. Eugene Byers, Loudonville
assumes the office of President
-- cceeding Bryce L. Weiker and Dr. Shirla
'.~. McClain, Akron was elected Vice-President,
succeeding Warner R. Moore.
Hearing Results in Redefinitions
The Board also at this meeting convened
a hearing at the request of the
Perry County District Library, New Lexington
for a redefinition of its library
boundaries as a result of school district
consolidations. The Board resolved that
8S clarification of the districts the
boundaries be redefined to include:
Crooksville Exempted Village
School District
New Lexington City School
District
Northern Local School District
(that portion in Perry County)
Fairfield Union Local School
District (those portions in
Perry County)
Franklin Local School District
(that portion in Perry County)
and
June 1983 Vol. 240 No. 11
Southern Local School District
(that portion in Perry County,
excluding the Village of New
Straitsville)'
The Board further resolved that the
boundaries of the Fairfield County District
Library, Lancaster. be redefined to
include that portion of Northern Local
School District in Fairfield County and to
exclude those portions of Fairfield Union
Local School District in Perry County •

Several Grants Awarded
The Board, in other action, awarded
eight LSCA Title I grants at its meeting.
The Department of Rehabilitation and
Correction will receive a total of
$110,660 for grants to improve library
services to 14,000 people confined at
ohio's adult correctional facilities
including Chillicothe Correctional Institution,
Lebanon Correctional Institution,
London Correctional Institution, Marion
Correctional Institution, Ohio Reformatory
for Women, Ohio State Reformatory, Southeastern
Ohio Training Center and Southern
Ohio Correctional Facility.
