Board Okays More Than $1 Million
In LSCA Grants
The State Library Board, at its
regular meeting, September 14, 1982,
awarded 65 Library Service and Construction
Act (LSeA) grants totaling
$1,279,976 to public libraries throughout
Ohio.
This, the largest amount in LSCA
funds awarded in a single session
resulted when the· federal administration
impounded funds for fiscal year 1982, a
portion of which were not released unt i l
,eight months into the fiscal year. ,
'- "I am especially pleased at the
response of the Ohio libraries in their
requests for these funds and I am gratified
with the State Library staff's
diligent effort in getting these grants
analyzed and processed in the brief time
available," State Librarian Richard M.
Cheski said.
Grants for micro-computers and
outreach programs outnumber other
requests which included: children' s
services, information and referral,
microfilms, institutional and audiovisual
programs.
