REVISION OF CIRCULATION POLICY
At its regular meeting, October 12 ,
1982, the State Library Board passed a
revised circulation policy containing
recommendations regarding registration,
fines, overdue materials, lost books,
sanctions and adjustments . The Library's
field unit circulation policy was also
revised.
'The new policy provides for specific
changes in the Library's automated system

LCS, shared with The Ohio State
Univers.ity Libraries, not only handles
circulation information, but, provides
patrons many search entry points, additional

database for use by the 75,000 residents
of Geauga county with a complete union
catalog of the 135,000 titles of Geauga
County Public Library and Burton Public
Library, including community information
listings.
The Mary P . Shelton Library, Georgetown,
will receive SlO , 530 to extend
library services to disadvantaged children
in Brown county.
Massillon State Hospital was awarded
$3,136 for the development of videocassette
programs for institution residents •
The Public Library of Cincinnati and
Hamilton County will receive $30,641 to
provide a subject index to two Cincinnati
newspapers, the Enquirer and the Post, for
the period January 1977 through April
1978, and to inde x, as far as pOSSible,
the Enquirer for the period June 1916
through September 1926.
Also awarded, was $33,333 to catalog,
by subject, 20,000 photographs
relating to the commercial navagational
use of the Ohio-Mississippi Rivers System
from 1811 to the present.
The library will microfilm the
collection of bound volumes of the
Cincinnati Freie Presse from 1874 through
1963 with a $28 , 629 grant. Finally, the
library will receive $16,470 to create a
complete index to the more than 8,500
titles in the library in a flexible,
easily updated form.
