BOARD ACTS ON LSCA.
SCHEDULES HEARING ON
BOUNDARIES
At its regular meeting October 14, the State Li­brary
Board appr oved the AnnuaZ Program State­ment
for PI 81 as required by the Federal Library
Services and Construction Act, discussed the
library ' s projected budget for the 1982-1983
biennium, and approved qne LSCA Title I grant.
The Board also scheduled a public hearing on
library district boundary procedures (see p. 106).
With Board approval of the AnnuaZ Prog~ Statement for PI 1981~ the State
Library will file the Statement and related documents with the U. S. Department
of Education in accordance with the Federal Library Services and Construction
Act . Ohio qualifies for a total of $2,903,600 in Titles I and III LSCA funds,
of which $2,496,193 is available for grants .
State Librarian Richard M. Cheski reported on the October 10 budget hearing
with the Office of Budget and Management. The State Library's projected budget
for the 1982-1983 biennium includes $14.3 million to cover "continuation,"
"base," and "required" programs . OBM is expected to submit its budget to the
Governor ' s Office in December.
OTHER BOARD ACTIONS
In other business, the Board:
Reviewed the application of the State Library to become a participat­ing
library in Region V of the National Library of Medicine's Regional
Medical Library Program . The Board of the Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan
Regional Medical Library Network (KOM) will act on the State Library's
application in the near future.
Approved $16 , 914 in LSCA Title I funds to the Washington County Public
Library, Marietta , for the second year of Project OUTREACH, to attract
additional persons with disabilities to the library and to provide a
