At its regular meeting March 13, the State Library
Board approved four grants under the Library Services
and Construction Act program, reviewed policies, and
discussed the State Library ' s projected budget for
the 1980-1981 biennium.
Mr. Cheski reviewed the State Library ' s 1980-198
biennial budget proposed by the Legislative Budget Office. He noted that the Legislative
Budget Office recommendation for the State Library cuts out all expanded
programs r~commended by the Governor's budget, and recommended by the State L1-
bary . It maintains the state aid program for 1980-1981 at the 1979 level.

The Legislative Budget Office recommends a reduction of $350,941 in state
aid. including $189,152 in reimbursement to the Cleveland and Cincinnati public
libraries for increased number of readers for statewide service to the blind and
handicapped readers, and $161,789 in other maintenance state aid categories. The
LBO recommendation would require a retrenchment for the State Library, including
reduction in staff . Mr. Cheski noted that the budget hearing date has not yet
been set.
The State Librarian also reviewed the February 23 statewide meeting to present
the Ohio Multitype Interlibrary Cooperation Committee (OMI~an for
