The LC card number in subfield z is searchable •
OCLC has announced that the printing of Superintendent of Documents
classification numbers directly from the 086 field is imminent. The SuDocs
number will print entirely on one line, no options exist in the format of the
documents number. To facilitate this alteration of the card printing program
AMIGOS asks that any institution which has a holding library designated for
government documents notify the office in writing of this fact. Refer to the
OCLC symbol for the holding library as weB as indicating whether or not local
(state or municipal) document classifications are used.
3. An OCLC record containing two lxx fields at the time of production will not
generate cards. Normally when this has occurred there was an attempt to use a
130 (Uniform title heading) as well as some other lxx field. The 730 (Uniform
title) or the 740 (Title traced differently) will generate an added entry.
4. The most recent projected date for the availability of serial card printing is
December 1, 1976.
5. The addition of the automatic check-in feature is contingent upon the
enlargement of core memory •
