AMIGOS TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM T77-29
December 12, 1977
TO:
FROM:
SUBJECT:
AMIGOS Bibliographic Council Technical Services
Directors

Bits & Tidbits
1. SAVE FILE - We have heard reports from various AMIGOS
users that the SAVE file area is frequently full making
it impossible to add additional records to SAVE. OCLC
is considering several ways that this problem could be
corrected or controlled: 1) expand the SAVE file, or
2) monitor the use of the SAVE files, analyze them by
library to determine which institutions are abusing the
service. Technical Bulletin 27 explains the SAVE operation
and enumerates the possible malfunctions.
2. FILING INDICATORS - For accurate indexing of records added
to the online catalog the second indicator of fields 222,
240, 241, 242, 243, 245, 440, 830, and 840 must be input
correctly. Technical Bulletin 26 is an explanation of
the use of the second indicator.
3. RECORD TERMINATOR - In the near future the record terminator
that ends a bibliographic record will display
in reverse video making it unnecessary to request the
next screen which includes only holdings information.
Technical Bulletin 28 announces this change.
