By the time my message hits the press, the 1981
OElMA/OlA Conference will be history and the
reorganization may be accomplished. My job would
have been much easier without the reorganization,
but I am excited about the challenges that will
confront us and optimistic that it will work and work
well.
Not everyone will be enamored with the new
Jrganizational structure. But, let's give it a chance to
work. We all heard the same prophets of doom in
1972 but the Association survived and progressed.
Now it is time to roll up our sleeves, get our hands
dirty and get this reorganized association on the move.
We've been presented with a tremendous opportun­ity
to expand the breadth of the membership. All
library personnel should now be able to "find a
familiar place to hang their hat" in the reorganization.
Now it is up tQ each of us to get behind the efforts of
the Membership Committee and spread the word
about OlA. There is strength in numbers and we are
going to need that strength as we move through the
80's.

OlA Membership Approves
Restructure at Annual Conference
OlA members present at the Annual Membership
meeting Friday, October 30, 1981, approved the
report of the Ad Hoc Committee for 0 lA Structure
and the necessary amendments for its implementation
during the coming year. In a spirited but low-keyed
debate the members voted to make the proposed
Automation and Technology Round Table a division
of OlA.
A motion to retain the present structure was
rejected by a large majority.
The new OlA will have eleven (11) Divisions,
one (1) Round Table, and six (6) Chapters. President
John Wallach immediately appointed leaders for the
new organizations and announced a mini-leadership
conference would be held November 6, 1981 at the
Worthington Public Library.

DORIS JYUROVAT - LIBRARIAN OF THE YEAR
The OlA, through its Committee of Awards and Honors, presented to Doris
Jyurovat, Stow Public Library, the Librarian of the Year award at the Annual
Awards and Honors luncheon October 30, 1981, during the OElMA/OlA Concur­rent
Conference at the Ohio Center.
Doris was cited for her creativity in bringing her library to a million-dollar struc­ture
that serves as a center for the community; for professional acumen and service
to 0 LA; and additionally for being DOR IS - entertaining, effervescent, exuberant
