Many thanks to all who answere
for volunteers in the May issue of

L I BRAR I ES. I was overwhelmed by the response
and had more volunteers than committee
assignments available. However, don't
despair if you were not tapped on the first
go-round. Your name will be maintained in
my ACTIVE-GET-INVOLVED-FILE for any future
assignments that may come up during the
year. (There are always quite a few!)
I am looking at this tremendous response
s an indication that the membership is
will ing,and able,to accept the challenges
to the Association that will be encountered
in the coming year. With such enthusiasm

Jane McGregor
Presented Grolier Award
Jane Ann McGregor, Hopkins, S.C., was
presented the Grol ier Foundation Award July
I, during the Inaugural 3anquet of the American
Library Association. Consisting of
$1000 and a citation of achievement, the
Award is made to a 1 ibrarian in a community
or a school who has made an unusual contribution
to the stimulation and guidance of
reading by children and young people.
..J Miss McGregor served from 1974-1980 as
Children's Services consultant for the Ohio
Valley Area Libraries, Wellston. Her citation
said in part, "For years to come,

WALLACE WHITE ELECTED VP IN BALLOTING
Wallace White
Wallace White, director,
Flesh Public Library, Piqua,
was elected vice presidentpresident
elect in June
balloting by OLA members.
He will serve with John
14allach, di rector, Dayton
Montgomery County Publ ic
Library, who will assume
the presidency in October
during the annual conference
at the Ohio Center.
Wally is well known to
OLA members for his commendable 'trackrecord'
in OLA activity having served on
nine committees - some of them twice - in
a period starting 1966! He shares his talents
in other organizations both national
and local and leans heavily toward church
and school activities in the Piqua area.
~lr. "hite received an A.B. (Engl ish)
from Miami University and MLA degree from
Kent State University.
