DEFINING COMMUNITY NEEDS
DIVISION I
The Division Task Force on Service to
Older Adults will draw attention to the
forthcoming White House Conference On Aging,
November, 1981, with a sess ion at the South­westero.
Ohio Library Association Regional
Meeting on March 27th (Central State Univer­sity,
Wilberforce). A representative of the
Miami Valley Area Agency on Aging and a del­egate
to the WHCOA wi 11 engage in a dialogue
1ith a librarian and an older volunteer to
_xplore mutual concerns and potentials for
service which the White House Conference on
Aging wi 11 address. Even though this session
is limited to the southwestern region,
please note there are delegates to the WHCOA
statewide who might well profit from the
assistance of their local librarian. Access
to materials from the library might help
them to better prepare to represent all of
our needs - present and future - as people
who are daily becoming older. An offer of
such assistance at least would allow the
concerns of the library profession inserving
the older adult be known. Ohio's older
population ranks our state 6th in population
over 65 years of age. For information on the
delegates in your area call your local area
agency on aging.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
With some luck from the Irish the OlA
membership wi 11 continue to grow. To date
1364 members have renewed and 150 new mem­bers
have joined the ranks bringing the
total membership to 1514.
