MEMBERS HIP INVOLVEMENT
Since ear ly last fall J we have been seek­ing
ways to insure widespread discussion of
ORl lS and mini mum s upport subsidies to pub­I
ic I ibraries . Copies of the ORLIS Plan
'.ere mai led to all OlA members in late
f September. The "Quest ions and AnsvJers" sec-t
ion has been printed in the Ohio libraries
Newsletter. There have been intensive re­views
by the legislation Committee, the
r library Development Committee and the OlA
Board. The "Target Paper" subcommittee of
)he library Development Committee has pre-

, pared mater ial for use at the regional meet­ings.
Time has been set aside at all the
regional meet ings for discussion .
I would urge each of you to attend the
regional meet i ng in your area and to voice
your comments, cr i t icisms, and suggestions.
We have paid careful attention to letters
rece ived from OlA members, but further mem­bership
involvement is needed i f we are to
have a plan for ORl lS and minimum support
subsidies which commands widespread support

OlA AWARDS AND HONORS
SEARCH BEGINS FOR 1980
The OlA Awards and Honor s search for
deserving persons has begun.
Seven awards,the Hall of Fame librarianand
Tr ustee, librarian of the Year, Trustee of
the Year, Su pporti ve Staff Member of the
Year, Diana Vesce l ius Memoria l Awa rd and
the Citizen Award wi ll be awa rded during the
Annua l Conference to be he ld in October.
Each nominee sha ll be a member of OlA or,
in the case of a trustee, a member of OlTA.
Awards are granted to I ibrar ians of academic,
publ ie, school, or specia l I ibraries and to
a trustee. The term' I ibrar ian' is defined
in this context : any emp loyee of a library
in Ohio .
All members of the Oh io library and the
Ohio library Trustees Associat ion shoul d
send in the f o rm (and copies if needed)
