SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE AVAILABLE TO LIBRARIANS DURING MIDWEST CONFERENCE
While most general meetings of the 1975
Midwest Federation of Library
Associations will be held in Detroit's
Cobo Hall, Ohio's Division,
Committee and Membership
Meetings will be held in the
beautiful Pontchartrain Hotel. Similar
meetings for Michigan are
scheduled for the Heritage Hotel.
Kicking off with registration at
8:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, the Conference
continues until about noon, Saturday,
October 4. The Gale Research Company

whose headquarters is in Detroit, will provide
free shuttle bus service to and from '
Cobo Hall, stopping at the Heritage Hotel,
the Sheraton-Cadillac and the Pontchartrain.
In addition, Gale Research will provide free
bus service to and from the Detroit Public
~ NATIONAL HANDICAPPED WEEK
The week of October 5-11, 1975 will be
observed as National Employ the Handicapped
Week. It is proclaimed by the President of
the United States. To participate in the
observance in the week, many libraries set
up displays which call attention to the
contributions which handicapped individuals
have made - and are making today - to society.
John Rebenack, Chairperson, Library Committee
of the President's Committee on Employment
of the Handicapped, suggests that
members set up displays in t heir libraries.

One way is to build the exhibit around some
of the inspiring books about people who
have surmounted their disabilities to be-come
productive members of society.
Rebenack suggests that libraries publi(

presentation and the library's reception
which will include refreshments and a
few gypsies.

mailing. Advance reservations are advised
since guarantees are required!
AS listed in the previously released programs,
Ohio meetings are set for Friday afternoon,
4:30-6:00 p .m. The Membership
Business Meeting is scheduled for Saturday,
October 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Included
in this period will be the Awards and
Honors presentation and, at approximately
10:00 a.m. the OLA/OLTA Joint Meeting and
Legislation report.
Case Western R~erve University Library
School Alumni will hold a dinner on Wednesday
evening, October 1 .
While advance registration rates for the
Coference will have expired by the time this
mailing reaches members, it will still be
possible to sign up in Detroit for one day
or four. See you in Detroit.
MFLA RECEPTION AT DETROIT P.L.
The Friends of the Detroit Public Library
will host a champagne reception for
librarians attending the MFLA Conference,
Wednesday evening from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Ralph Nader will be the Banquet speaker
on ThUrSday \T>ning at 7:00 p.m. A
reception will lId prior to the Ban-quet.
IIFrom England with Love: A Bicentennial
Approach" is the topic of guest speaker
David Frost scheduled for Wednesday Noon.
