years. The Second Conference of the Midwest
Federation of Library Association to be hele
at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
aLA membership voted to join MFLA in 197,
One of the purposes of the Federation is to
sponsor a conference every four years to be
planned and attended by the seven Midwestern
states that are members. This year the participating
state s are Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
Minnesota, Ohio and Wisc onsin . Rober

man Parsons, Exhibits Chairperson. Mary
Daume , Director, Monroe County (Michigan) Pu
lic Library is president of MFLA.
Enclosed with this issue of the NEWSlette
is a copy of the program highlights. Every
effort has been made to develop programs and
presentations that will appeal to a wide variety
of concerns of library staff members.
You will note that provisions have been
made for oLA Divisions, Committees, Task For'
ces and Caucuses to meet during the four day

Meeting and the presentation of Awards and
Honors to be made on Saturday morning.
An October 1st Bus Charter has been s ched·
uled for the MFLA meeting. Busses will be
departing from Akron, Chillicothe, Cincinnat·
ti Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and
Youngstown. The chartered busses will returl
on October 4 . Make your reservation early
using the registration form enclosed with
